Valentina Lisitsa

Valentina Lisitsa is a recent discovery for me, but I'm already enthusastic about her piano-playing. Okay, I admit that the very first video I saw of her, in which she was playing Fur Elise, I was slightly unsure of the correct opinion to entertain. She delivered a brilliant performance, no arguing that, the dynamics were marvelous, perfect legatos, and plenty of feeling. If I closed my eyes and just listened, than she delivered one of the best executions out there. But there was something with the way she sat, so hunched, moving so much, that bothered me. Hence the confusion.
Many Rachmainoff and some Beethoven concertos later, the scale tipped all the way and I became a huge fan. With a talent as huge as hers minor things like posture don't matter.
That woman has a handle on Rachmainoff like few other pianists. When she plays "Little Red Riding Hood", it's almost like the wolf is chasing you too. She's also absolutly great with Beethoven, but there she has Daniel Barenboim to contend with.
So if you don't know who she is, run here, like now, and pay attention.
This is the real shit.

Hoooold your breath

THEY'RE HERE!
PICTURES!!!!
Gee about time! How long has it been since I posted pictures on this blog anyway? Yeah I know, I have an evil tendency of getting you all worked up by promising pictures that never show up, but I plan to change that. Also, my beloved desktop has no card reader, so to post pics, I'm forced to use my mommy's laptop. Today was a draining day. First, I get to do animation for the Red Cross all morning in the swealtering heat, and then get back to help make tomato sauce on an industrial scale. The fact that I thought of you today should bring tears to your eyes.
These are the few pictures of Udine we took.

Man Fashion: Top 5 Swim Trunks for This Summer

As far as men’s swimwear goes, swim trunks are the most basic sort of swimwear. This does not mean that swim trunks are not great men’s swimwear and in fact, I do see swim trunks are back to trends. This is because men of any age can wear swim trunks, from young boys to old men. Most important, I like swim trunks more than "speedo" because they usually have a lining so that they are very comfortable, less revealing and they are not too terribly long either, so you can still tan your legs.

So if you are thinking of getting yourself a new swimwear, let see what I got to offer here.

1. Black and White
The most important rule of summer fashion: don't get complicated.
And the simplest way to swim is in black and white — checkers, stripes, polka dots, solids, whatever. None of it will get old — one pair should last you five summers.

2. Bay Watch Red
Always in style, a shock of red is the ultimate beach color and suits any skin tone. Plus, you'll look like you know what you're doing. Just don't pair it with a lifeguard buoy — that would be overboard.

3. Retro Neon
Add a little bit (or a lot) to your swimsuit for an unexpectedly sporty twist on one of the year's hottest fashion trends. Sundek and Quiksilver both make variations that have become iconic surfer-scene staples.

4. Walk the Bar
After showering off, throw on sandals and a clean polo on top of these. They're close enough to shorts that you can roll up to the beach club without worrying about judgmental stares.

5. Aquatic-Themed
There are limits to where, when, and how a man can wear animal print.
Remember to limit to marine creatures rather than land dwellers.

Fashion Show + Wheelchair Rugby Team?

Rugby and the fashion runway might not seem like a natural mix. But, they will be on Aug. 1, when dozens of models will hit the catwalk to support Colorado's wheelchair rugby team, the Denver Harlequins.

The event is titled "Enthuse '09" and takes place Aug. 1 at the SugarCube building in downtown Denver. It is located at 1555 Blake Street. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the fashion show scheduled to start at 10 p.m.

Park is asking for a $25 donation, which can be made online at metroboom.com. All the proceeds go to the Denver Harlequins and the Korean Heritage Camp.

For more information about the Denver Harlequins, go to quadrugby.harlequins.org.

Fashion News: Crocs Could be Their Last Legs

Crocs were born of the economic boom. The colorful foam clogs appeared in 2002, just as the country was recovering from a recession. Brash and bright, they were a cheap investment (about $30) that felt good and promised to last forever. Former president George W. Bush wore them. Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler wore them. Your grandma wore them. They roared along with the economy, mocked by the fashion world but selling 100 million pairs in seven years.

Then the boom times went bust, and Crocs went to the back of the closet. Last year the company lost $185.1 million, slashed roughly 2,000 jobs and scrambled to find money to pay down millions in debt. Now it's stuck with a surplus of shoes, and its auditors have wondered if it can stay afloat. It has until the end of September to pay off its debt.

My Must-have Products for Flawless Skin (Foundation Routine)

These are just the products that I like that I really think gives the most natural effect, but still gives me good coverage.
Check out the video below to see these products in action :)

I have been using these products pretty much daily for the past 3 months or so. I definitely would not wear liquid foundation daily (because I HATE IT) but for some reason, this particular formula I've found wears really nicely and doesn't feel heavy. It gives such amazing results that I don't mind wearing it! As for primer, you may notice I don't mention one...I also TOTALLY forgot to mention this in the videooo (oops). Anyway, I used to swear by makeup primers before foundation and couldn't imagine NOT using one, but after I experienced some pretty heavy breakouts that were very out of the ordinary, I was very careful with what I put on my skin while it was healing. Primer was just an extra step that I cut out totally. Honestly, I haven't worn the stuff in almost 4 months and I swear, I think my makeup looks better without it. My skin is almost perfect again too, so I'm not messing with that! I think that for me, it's just unnecessary. However, when I do makeup on others, it's a step I rarely skip! Weird huh?? Anyway, here are my MUST-HAVE products for flawless, amazingly natural looking skin everyday.

*For any of you with questions about my skin care, that is a WHOLE other video and it's coming up soon ;)

- Make Up Forever Mat Velvet+ liquid foundation
I wear shade #40. Might seem a little dark, but I usually use a slightly darker, more yellow-toned foundation so that my face matches my body perfectly. Otherwise, my face is pale and pink and it totally doesn't match my body and neck which is more tan and slightly olive toned. ...You probably noticed that in the video!
Anyway, this stuff is AMAZING. The words "Mat Velvet+" are a little scary, yes, especially if you are after a more natural look and are scared of some of these thicker foundations that promise a matte finish and great coverage....I am! But this stuff, while it takes a VERY small amount to provide great coverage, is surprisingly very natural. Even in the Georgia humidity and sweltering summers, this stuff requires little to no touch ups all day (even with my oily skin). I've yet to find anything that compares. It's the best foundation I've ever used by a mile. My skin has also greatly improved since wearing it. Not that this stuff is what made it better, but it definitely did not interfere or cause any more breakouts while my skin healed. It's amazing. I like to apply it either with a damp BeautyBlender sponge, or any type of foundation brush. I find that with this formula, a more dense foundation brush that really buffs the product in makes for a more natural, blended finish.

-MAC Studio Finish Concealer
I wear shade NC20 which is more yellow based (as the NC MAC shades are). This is because I use this concealer on my face to cover redness and any reddish, darker spots left behind from old breakouts. This stuff is amazing. It holds up better than most concealers do on oily skin. I like to apply with either fingertips or any type of concealer brush.

-MAC Select Moisturecover Concealer
I wear shade NW20 which is more pink based. Since my undereye area is more shadowy and blue-ish, the more pink toned concealer neutralizes it better. I love this formula for my undereye area because it is very moisturizing and liquidy, so I don't have to tug on my undereye area or rub a lot to blend it in. I like to pat it on with my fingertips.

-Benefit Powderflage
This is an amazing product. I don't like to set undereye concealer with a typical powder because it can make for a cakey effect, but this stuff is designed to be used there and is very finely milled. I feel that because the undereye concealer I use is so moisturizing, it can leave behind a bit of a sticky finish which is a fallout magnet. It's a light pink powder that has a brightening effect and can be used on any skin tone. I like to apply it with a fluffy blending type brush. The Studio Gear #34 is my favorite because it's so soft for that area. It looks exactly like a MAC #224, but is of much softer fibers. I also like the MAC #225 for this (the brush used in the video, I believe it's discontinued)

-MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural
I use this as my finishing powder. Since it does deposit some color, I make sure to dust it on VERY lightly. However, it does leave a very natural finish. I use it with my #134 MAC brush, or just any type of fluffy brush.

Hope this was helpful for you guys!

IT'S MY BIRTHDAY AND I CAN DIE IF I WANT TO!

Wow, so it's already been a year and this blog is still alive. Or more like, I am still alive. Didn't really think I'd make it intact through such a crazy year as this has been but as you can see I did(unless someone's hacking into my account and writing foolishness on my blog. In that case I'm most likely dead and you should all be mourning for me). For the most part this has been a year full of changes, crazyness, and emotional decisions. I either met great people I didn't know before, (Mel, Tina, Nat, Eman) or refreshed a bond with the ones I did know, (Ozie, Esty, Fran). I got to live in a different contry, learn a third language, and a different culture, (I'll love you forever Spain).
I had a wild, twisted, angry, funny, foolish, sad, loud, wasted, tired, difficult, emotional year. A year that I'll always remeber with a smile and nostaglia.
Happy Birthday to Me.
